Tchotchkies of the Dead, part 5

Another tchotchke of the dead sale, more victories.
We went to a gorgeous and expansive ranch in a nearby valley for their sad, going bankrupt sale.  I wish I could have bought that many-acre ranch with all the guest houses, but that was too expensive.
Going into the reception area, Grace saw a carved Indian-head stone statue sitting beside a pond.  When we asked the owner how much it would cost, she said she didn’t even know it was there.  We bought the statue, perfect for our living room or garden, for $25.
Yet another estate sale, in a grand two-story home, brought us a Diego Rivera-type painting of mother and child.  It hangs in my office.
Tchotchkies of the Dead have brought us many treasures, visits to place we would never have seen if we were not looking for estate sales, and stories to tell.  They have been quite good for us.
