PART 4: GELATO SHOP CLOSES, TAKE BOOTS WITH THEM

Then, about four weeks after that devastating Sunday parking-dispute story in the local paper:
       Gelato shop on Guadalupe closing
New Mexican, Oct. 11, 2011:  O-Gelato on North Guadalupe Street is apparently closing. Owner David Maple didn't return calls Monday, but it appeared the shop was being dismantled Monday afternoon. A man inside the shop declined to comment and referred questions to attorney Karl Sommer. Sommer confirmed the shop was closing but didn't return calls seeking more details.
Maple and his business partner and wife, Shelby Fonley, began selling the icy treat (which is similar to ice cream) wholesale in Santa Fe in 2007. They opened their first retail outlet in DeVargas Center in July 2010 and moved to Guadalupe Street in June.
But parking issues at the new location proved controversial.
Maple's practice of placing an immobilizing boot on cars of noncustomers parked in O-Gelato's spots in a shared parking lot in front of the building prompted complaints from some area residents.
