Part 8: #Block Jr. #Jailed: #Santa Fe saga continues.

Bulletin from New Mexican, October 14, 2011: Jerome Block Jr. jailed, source cites violation of release terms
Just two weeks after he pleaded guilty to several felony charges and agreed to resign his position from the state Public Regulation Commission, Jerome Block Jr., is in jail.

The embattled former elected official was booked into the jail at 12:10 p.m. Friday on a remand order, indicating he violated some term of his release. A source has told The New Mexican he failed a drug test.

The 34-year-old La Puebla resident agreed as part of his plea agreement to enter drug court with state District Judge Michael Vigil. If he successfully completed that program, he could avoid jail time.

His crimes included, among other things, fraudulent use of a state-issued gasoline card, embezzlement, identity theft and other charges.
He potentially faces up to 4 1/2 years in prison
